About this site
My name is Beau Simensen.
Procrastivity.fm is my experiment in sustainable creative output. I stream myself coding and making art—because working in public creates accountability my ADHD brain needs.
Think of it as accountability through visibility: if people are watching, I actually finish projects instead of just planning them.
Procrastivity?
I have so many things I want to do and try. I spend a lot of time thinking and planning but have a hard time starting or making meaningful progress even if I do manage to get started.
I was first introduced to the term procrastivity by my ADHD coach. It's the amazing portmanteau of productivity and procrastination; sneaky avoidance by way of masking procrastination as productivity.
I've spent so much of my life tricking myself into thinking I'm getting things done without really accomplishing anything. It's great to put a name with a face.
Don't call it a podcast
What started at as an idea to "do a podcast again" evolved into whatever – gestures wildly at everything – this is going to be.
My main goal is to give myself external accountability to do the things I want to do.
Live streaming Astrocasts was a great learning experience on the benefits of having a schedule and growing a community.
Long-form podcasting with That Podcast is something I've missed a great deal. I want to have a venue for these types of discussions without the pressure of "making a podcast."
I have wanted to do more blogging for years. I've already done more writing for this about page than I've written elsewhere in a long time. So, the plan is already working!
Lastly, I've wanted to share more about my lived experience as a person with a neurodivergent brain.
TL;DR I hope to use this platform to do all the things! Or at least do some of the things. At least a little more of the time. :)
